Summer Reading List: Stephanie Plum and The Fran Lebowitz Reader
The reading chair needed breaking in, so this summer I read. Two very different books (and one very long series) made the list.
The Stephanie Plum series
Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series follows a bounty hunter from Trenton, New Jersey who is terrible at her job and somehow always catches her guy. Cars explode. Grandma Mazur steals every scene. It's pure fun, and the books are fast enough to finish on a weekend.
- Start at the beginning: One for the Money introduces everyone, including the two men in Stephanie's life.
- Read in order: the numbered titles (Two for the Dough, Three to Get Deadly...) make it easy.
- Don't overthink it: these are beach books, and that's a compliment.

The Fran Lebowitz Reader
The Fran Lebowitz Reader collects her two essay books, Metropolitan Life and Social Studies. Lebowitz is dry, cranky and very funny about city life, manners and the general nonsense of modern living. It's the perfect book to read in five-minute bursts between coats of paint.
