Vegas, Baby: The TaylorMade Golf Experience and a Zara Haul
A friend's birthday took us to Las Vegas, and we came home with a better golf swing (him), a suitcase of new clothes (me), and zero dollars of gambling winnings (us).
The TaylorMade Golf Experience
The Mister spent an entire morning at the TaylorMade Golf Experience, a fitting and practice facility in Las Vegas with outdoor bays, launch monitors and a short game area. A fitter watched his swing on a monitor, swapped heads and shafts, and showed him exactly why his drives slice. He's now unbearable about ball speed.

Zara in Vegas
Meanwhile I went to Zara on the Strip. If you've only shopped Zara online, the Las Vegas stores are huge, with far more home pieces than we see in Minnesota. I came home with a wool coat (necessary), two sweaters (necessary), and a set of linen napkins (very necessary).
Design notes from the casinos
- Layered lighting is everything. No room in Vegas has just one overhead light.
- Bold wallpaper works best in small spaces you pass through, like a powder room.
- Brass and dark wood never stopped being a good idea.
Back to reality: the hallway. Bring on the doors.
